The gold of the Cabana Lake
An interesting legend is told by archaeologists and seekers about the long-standing treasure - the gold of the Cabana Lake. And the following happened. When the troops of Ivan the Terrible came to Kazan, the untold khan's treasures were secretly, under the cover of night, lowered to the bottom of the lake, in its northern part. Only a few people from the Khan's circle knew about this night operation, as a result of which water covered a lot of jewelry made of precious metals and stones, gold and silver bars, coins of various origins - Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Russian, Western European. The total weight of the treasures "drowned" in Cabana Lake was measured in tons, so the trophies of Ivan the Terrible proved to be very modest. Much less than he imagined.
The secret of the gold of the Cabana Lake was passed from generation to generation of those few families that conducted their ancestry from close associates of the Kazan khan. At the beginning of the last century, one of the initiated in secret went abroad, and soon one of the foreign companies turned to the Kazan Duma with a favorable proposal: to clear Cabana Lake from the accumulated silt in it centuries-old mud. For their work, the company asked for a very modest reward: all the garbage and trash found at the bottom was to be placed at its disposal. For some reason, this "environmental" action did not take place, and the revolution that happened several years later brought many new problems and concerns to the citizens. The mythical gold of Cabana Lake was soon forgotten.
Many years passed. In the late 40-ies of the 20th century, some Kazan residents witnessed an event that made us remember the gold of the Cabana Lake. What happened then? A man drowned in Cabana Lake, and in search of a corpse several boats circled in this ill-fated place, combing the bottom with iron "cats". Suddenly one of the boats seemed to anchor: her "cat" caught on something very heavy. Other boats approached it, and the people sitting in them tried to pull the prey from the bottom of the lake by common efforts. However, the task was not easy: a tight rope rang, but the matter did not move from the dead end. Gradually, still managed to shake the load and, intercepting the rope with his hands, raise it to the surface of the water. The eyes of those present appeared a small barrel, which seemed to be not as significant as it actually was. Itself suggested the idea that it is packed with something heavy, such as metal. And maybe it's the gold of the Cabana Lake? It remained to raise the find to the side of the boat, but the barrel covered with a layer of silt slipped and instantly disappeared under water. No matter how many tried to pick it up again on the same day and later, it was not possible to do it. Although the depth here is small only a few meters, but under the layer of water lies about the same height of a soft layer of dense silt, into which the mysterious keg was sunk.
About forty years later, in 1988, a new attempt was made to find a keg and gold from Cabana Lake with the help of scuba divers, but this time fortune did not wish to honor its search by its presence. Will it ever be possible to raise the gold of the Cabana Lake? Does it really contain untold wealth of the Kazan khan? While these questions do not find an answer and the Cabana Lake does not want to part with its secret.
