This salt mountain is a giant lump of salt, only on the top and on the slopes covered with a layer of soil. The soil in the same salt mountain was the result of long-term deposits of dust particles brought by the wind here. This is literally the land, brought by winds. Salt mountain in its shape resembles a giant mushroom, "foot" which, in the kilometer thick, stretches for many kilometers into the earth. At the top of a salt mountain in size 40 square km. you can freely place the big city.

On the slopes, depending on the impurities, appears pale pink or azure-green rock salt, which forms the wall of 150-200 m height. Where slopes harboring a thin layer of soil, growing small bushes.

Salt mountain has huge reserves of salt. They would have been enough for the entire population of the world for many centuries. It is believed that the salt mountain only in the aerial part contains 50-60 bln. tons of salt. Rain washed into streams limestone "hat" on top of the salt mountains, deep channels, of which the enormous depth in the bowels of the mountain are hydrochloric wells. There they joined with long strokes that flow flows groundwater. Saturated salt, ground water come to the surface near the foot of the mountain and give rise to more than 160 as the salt source, which flock to the surrounding rivers and can be the basis of balneal clinics and spas.

However, perhaps the most surprising is that on top of the salt mountain of Khoja-Mumin hit the keys of fresh water! Apparently, in a very thicker salts are other species, which under pressure and raised on top of the groundwater. Thanks to fresh water in the hydrochloric hat grow many herbs and flowers. Here you can find trees of pistachio, maple, hawthorn, buckthorn, pears, juniper, not to mention a variety of shrubs. In the spring peak of Khodja-Mumin covered an amazing bright red carpet of blooming tulips.

Wonderful and unusual sounds creates the wind passing through the long, thin salt stalactites hanging from the ceiling, and stalagmites - adorn the bottom of the cave. The height of the halls in the largest cave reaches 8-10 m; on their bottom streaming streams that go through the rubble in the mysterious depths of the mountain and facing the surface at its base. In caves inhabited by bats and various insects.

On the base of the salt sources Khodja-Mumin operate plants for the extraction of salt by natural evaporation of highly salty water (brine) in the square holes. The bottom brine contains 98% sodium chloride excellent quality.
